Open educational resources (OER) are educational material in the form of texts, photos, videos, audio, games, tests and simulations that are freely available on the net and which may be shared, copied and adapted in a regulated manner using Creative Commons licences. Teachers and students all over the world are already sharing and reusing material and this openness raises many questions in terms of the roles of the teacher and the student. Sharing teaching material means that you as a teacher do not have to prepare all material yourself. By sharing, borrowing and adapting lectures, demonstrations, exercises and tests you can create more time for discussion and supervision.
In this seminar I will deal with the following questions: – What exactly are OER and where can I find them? – What are the benefits of using OER in my teaching? – Are there any disadvantages of using OER? – How do I protect my rights as an author? – How can we as a university work with OER?
